The Game Awards 2020 Nominees


Today, the seventh annual Game Awards nominees have been announced via producer and host of the Game Awards, Geoff Keighley.

The Game Awards are a yearly celebration of the past year in gaming and eSports in which a number of awards are bestowed upon various game companies and personalities that demonstrate excellence in a variety of fields, as well as a look forward at what’s to come with a number of exciting trailers and new game reveals.

The general public is allowed to vote for their picks in each category until Wednesday, December 9 at 6 pm PT, the day before the show airs. And those are the 2020 Game Awards nominees. The Last of Us Part II is leading the pack with 10 nominations followed by Hades with 8 nominations of it's own. While Half Life Alyx has been nominated in a number of categories, it is interesting that it was omitted from the Game of the Year category, despite being a long awaited follow-up for one of gaming's biggest franchises and receiving high praise from reviewers and fans alike. One thing to note is that while Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order released in 2019, it was not eligible for inclusion in last year's award show, hence why it has been nominated in 2020.
